Letter to Al Gore

Dear Dondep --

Folks like you know what I believe: We have no more important priority than confronting and solving the climate crisis.

Luckily, we have a President who has taken up that task with both determination and seriousness of purpose, and it's amazing what a difference that can make.

In June, President Obama empowered the Environmental Protection Agency to cut carbon pollution, a move which will help reduce dangerous CO2 from power plants by 30 percent in 2030. On top of that, he has established new fuel economy standards that reduce CO2 levels and will save us all money at the pump. With the Recovery Act, he made the single biggest investment in clean energy in the United States, ever. All these steps will have a lasting impact on the planet our children and grandchildren inherit -- and they wouldn't have happened without your support.

As Bob Dylan sang, "You don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows." We're seeing real, important progress in the fight against the climate crisis -- and it's coming not a moment too soon.

But you and I both know there are still a lot of deniers out there. The time for leadership in the face of this threat has not passed. If ever there were a moment to send leaders to Washington who make climate legislation their top priority, this is it.

Thanks,

Al Gore

Al, you and I both know that climate change is real, although it's not based on 'global warming' but the nearby presence of Nibiru which will be announced by the president early next year (or next year), following the holidays.  Certainly before the end of Mr. Obama's term. We know because it was the main factor in why the 2000 election (and with it our destiny, just as they did in '63 and the following year in 2001) was stolen from you:  the cabal wanted to be in power for the time of the, ahem, "cycle's cross", as your cohorts on the council euphemistically call it.

Thankfully this current president will make the 'great admission', to both stark truths that have been with-held from humanity for eons, in the dead of the coming winter - when the public won't be able to flee in blind panic but will be forced to think carefully and make plans accordingly.  The signal that validated this past year's feint - Neil deGrasse Tyson and Bill Nye at the White House on Feb. 28th, proven with a 'selfie' tweeted by Bill Nye - was received loud and clear, and the best thing we can do is use this precious last year to get our own houses in order (have you changed your energy-efficient bulbs this year, btw?).

In the meantime, it's disingenuous for those of us that know to sign onto a lie, which while well-intentioned, is misleading and encourages the clueless folks in our progressive base to deny those of us that are seeking to begin the larger conversation as soon as possible.  The better course of action would be to amplify the need to DE-militarize local law enforcement, because the president's coming announcement will show just why all that military equipment has been quietly making its way into the hands of local police forces nationwide, particularly in such places as St. Louis.  Whether or not Mike Brown will be found to have justified his killer's actions is immaterial to the much-larger conversation that's barely getting underway, and if nothing else we have Mike Brown to thank for that.

With apologies, but no regrets;
Dondep
